Author Malone Hosts ‘Books & Beer’ Radio Show

Michael J. Malone, the independent author that Well Lit Books seems to think is pretty terrific, is the host of the local radio show Books & Beer, in which he invites New York-area guests to the studio to discuss their books, writing and reading, and to sample local beers.

Past guests include Eddie Joyce (Small Mercies), George Vecsey (Eight World Cups), Marilyn Johnson (Lives in Ruins), Emmy Laybourne (Monument 14) and Cheryl Della Pietra (Gonzo Girl, pictured). Featured beers have been from Peekskill Brewery, Captain Lawrence Brewing, Broken Bow and Two Roads.

Books & Beer airs the second and fourth Wednesday of the month, 10-11 a.m., on WVOX in New

Rochelle, NY. It is then converted to podcast (http://booksandbeer.podomatic.com/) and is available in iTunes as Mike Malone’s Books and Beer.

Malone’s hosting role came to be after he was a guest on WVOX to talk about his Notes From the

Captain Lawrence Tasting Room book, and the station owner offered him a slot.

“I thought about what I like to consume, and what I like to talk about,” said Malone. “I came up with

Books & Beer. The name pretty much says it all about the show.”

Upcoming guests include Troy Lewis, author of Gas Money, and Ronnie Levine, author of The Ice Cream Shop Detective.
